Each night, Helios and Demeter offered up their goddesses to the divine side of the sun and moon. Each night, the gods saw two celestial bodies.The Sun and the Moon thought that the other was becoming overpowered and were in pain. Helios told them to escape to the east and to the place that was beyond the shining of the sun and the moon. They climbed the mountain peak and called out to Zeus to come for them. Zeus saw the celestial bodies and was frightened. He flew off to the east and was terrified that the Earth had been lost.As the night drew on, Demeter died and the cosmos was left empty.
